Facility Operations - Columbia College Campus

Department Overview
The Columbia College Facilities Operations services include: carpentry, custodial, electrical, grounds, moving and plumbing. Requests for these services may be made through the Facilities Work Order system in Colleague.

Facilities is committed to providing a safe environment for the campus community and providing adequate support services to instructional, administrative and student service.

Custodial Services Overview
The custodial department for Columbia covers three shifts.   The majority of the coverage is provided during the evening hours and each custodian has an assigned area.  Custodial staff are responsible for carpet maintenance, cleaning light fixtures, garbage pick-up, washing windows and general up keep of the building they are assigned.

Due to the staffing shortages at Columbia College, some buildings are designated priority cleaning.  Custodial staff concentrate on garbage, restrooms and entry areas of each building.   All other areas of cleaning are completed as staff are able.

Grounds Services Overview
The grounds staff maintain the 238 acres at Columbia College.  They are responsible for the maintenance of outside athletic fields, par course, snow plan, storm water drains and quarterly tree inspections.  Grounds staff also work yearly on a Fuel Reduction program to eliminate ladder fuels to reduce the risk of forest fires on our campus.

Maintenance Services Overview
The maintenance department of Columbia College is responsible for over-all maintenance of all buildings.  Central heating and cooling, lighting systems, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and locksmith are some of the trades that are supported under this area.

Repair of any building that includes offices, classrooms, and common areas requires the submission of a work order through Colleague.  Emergency and safety concerns should be reported immediately by contacting 209-588-5060.

Note: Maintenance does not repair Instructional Equipment. Instructional equipment is specialty equipment that is requested by the Department or the Division, such as paint booths, kitchen mixers & ovens, fume hoods, refrigerators, etc.
