Department Overview:

The Facilities Operations Department is responsible for all campus facilities maintenance. The Trades Department consists of seventeen employees who specialize in carpentry, electrical, HVAC, locksmith, painting, plumbing & welding. There are two Maintenance Assistants who are responsible for event set-ups, equipment and office relocations, and assist the trades with maintenance duties. The Grounds Department consists of ten employees and is responsible for maintaining campus grounds and supports all MJC athletics events. The Custodial Department consists of thirty-six employees split up between three shifts (day, swing, graveyard) and is responsible for cleaning maintenance of all buildings and supports all campus events.

Custodial Services Overview:

The custodial department for MJC and Central Services covers three shifts. The majority of coverage is provided during graveyard shift and each custodian has an assigned area. Graveyard custodial hours are Sunday-Friday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. The day and swing shift custodial staff clean restricted areas during the day and provide rotational restroom coverage on both campuses. Grounds Services Overview:

The grounds department serves 217 acres (East & West Campuses combined) for MJC and Central Services. It provides services to all campus grounds and all athletic events support for both campuses to include mowing, edging, irrigation systems, & tree and shrub pruning. Grounds also maintains the football, soccer, softball and baseball fields regularly and prepares them for athletic events. To make contact with grounds, please contact 575-6572.

Maintenance Services Overview:

The maintenance department for MJC and Central Services includes operating and maintaining buildings, central heating and cooling, lighting systems, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and locksmith.

Repair of any building component to include offices, classrooms, and common areas requires the submission of a work order through the Datatel Physical Plant module. Emergency and safety concerns should be reported immediately by contacting 575-6572. Maintenance does not repair instructional equipment.

Instructional equipment is specialty equipment that is requested by the department or the division, such as paint booths, kitchen mixers & ovens, fume hoods, refrigerators, etc.
